Accessibility

Last updated: July 2026

At Bean Banter, we believe everyone has a seat at our tables  and that includes online. We are committed to making our website and our cafés welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all people, including those living with disability.

Our Commitment

We are working to ensure that beanbanter.com.au is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and to meet our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

What We're Doing on Our Website

To make our website easier to use for everyone, we aim to:

  • Use clear, readable fonts and sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds
  • Provide descriptive alternative text (alt text) for meaningful images
  • Structure pages with proper headings so screen readers can navigate content easily
  • Ensure the website can be navigated using a keyboard alone
  • Make forms, buttons, and links clearly labelled and easy to identify
  • Design the site to work across devices, screen sizes, and orientations
  • Avoid content that flashes rapidly or auto-plays sound
  • Support browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our website and work with our developers to identify and fix accessibility issues as our site evolves.

Accessibility in Our Cafés

Our commitment goes beyond the website. Across our café locations, we strive to provide:

  • Wheelchair-accessible entry and seating wherever the premises allow
  • Staff who are happy to read the menu aloud, assist with ordering, or carry items to your table
  • A welcoming environment for assistance animals, in line with Australian law
  • Menu options for a range of dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan choices

Accessibility features may vary between locations due to differences in building layout. If you’d like to check the accessibility of a specific café before visiting, please call that location directly  contact details for every café are on our Contact page and our team will gladly help.

Known Limitations

While we work hard to make every part of our website accessible, some content may not yet fully meet accessibility standards, including:

  • Some older images or gallery photos that may lack detailed alternative text
  • Embedded third-party content (such as maps, videos, or the reCAPTCHA on our contact form) that is controlled by external providers

We are actively working to improve these areas, and we choose third-party tools with accessibility in mind wherever possible.

Assistive Technology

Our website is designed to be compatible with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver), screen magnifiers, and speech recognition software, when used with up-to-date browsers.
